COVID-19 Testing

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic we are offering SARS-CoV-2 IgG and IgM Antibody testing at our office. We offer both PCR and rapid testing options. The PCR testing is performed through Quest Diagnostic or LabCorp and will detect past exposure to the Novel SARS-CoV-2 virus and potential immunity. Results are available within 2-4 days. Results for rapid testing are available within 10 minutes.

Testing is a great option for essential workers, as well as those that believe they have had previous exposure or have had previous symptoms and have recovered. It will help you identify if you were exposed to the virus within the last 6 months and if you have potential immunity. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, COVID-19 antibody testing may indicate that “the person has been exposed to the virus and developed antibodies against it, which may mean that person has at least some immunity to the coronavirus.”

Please be informed this test is not intended for anyone who has current symptoms or is recently diagnosed with COVID-19. Antibody testing will only identify if someone has previously been infected with the virus and may be without symptoms or only mild symptoms.  The exposure would be within the last six months. This test checks whether or not you have antibodies in your blood to the SARS-COV-2 virus (the scientific name of the virus that causes COVID-19).

Limited appointments are available per day by calling (310) 473-1734. You will be charged $150 for your appointment upon booking to cover the cost of the blood draw, consultation, results interpretation, and to review the results with Dr. Melamed.

This price covers the cost of rapid testing, but does not include the cost for laboratory testing without insurance. If you have insurance then your laboratory cost will be covered by your insurance. Although most insurances do cover this testing, we recommend that you check with your insurance provider on coverage. If you do not have coverage, then the lab (LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics) will bill you directly.
